Hello dear readers,

Some of you may have noticed a slight dearth in reviews for new UK anime releases on this site recently. This is due in part to some of the titles having their release dates delayed by the distributors. However, in lieu of the current situation with the Coronavirus and the widespread lockdown of businesses, many of the distributors have been forced to temporarily suspend their usual operations, which means, whilst some title may still be released, more review discs will not be sent to reviewers such as myself for the foreseeable future.

Now, fortunately I do have discs for some upcoming titles to review but their release dates are staggered and it isn’t guaranteed that they won’t change again because of this pandemic. So, whilst I pride myself on offering some diversity in the content I review, I wanted to let anyone who prefers my anime posts to know that they will be infrequent from now on, at least until this whole unfortunate saga is over.

I will be carrying on reviewing as normal but please note that the majority of new reviews posted will be film related until further notice.

Thanks for reading and for your continued support of MIB’s Instant Headache.

  1. Anime everywhere is starting to suffer from the virus. A bunch of new shows have been delayed now that things are getting worse in Japan. I guess it’s time to watch Netflix to revisit some classic anime shows and animated movies I never got round to watching.

    1. Well, here in the UK, MVM and Anime Ltd are still on course with most of their titles but Manga are a mess. I have reviews ready to post since February that have been delayed and delayed, because they can’t get approval for the DVD artwork!

I’ve not noticed any delays to Japanese broadcasts yet, at least not the shows I’m watching though it is early days. Interestingly, every episode of season 2 of “Dropkick On My Devil” was released in one go, presumably so fans could binge watch during the lockdown.

  2. I think Dropkick On My Devil is funded by Amazon so maybe that’s why it came out in go? Some streaming services release stuff in bulk rather than weekly. Not sure on Amazon but Netflix does.

Violet Evergarden’s movie got delayed again, which sucks. The third season of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU got delayed, which sucks. Maybe it’s just me, but I am seeing less episodes on the anime site I frequent for currently airing shows.

    1. Only season one of “Dropkick” is on Amazon Prime (which is where i saw it) and that aired weekly like other shows are, No sign of season 2 at all.

Plus I guess it depends on which sites you visit for your anime fix… 😉
